dance for young audiences
Dance for Young Audiences (DfYA) is an initiative that is part of our Dancing Through Life mission to help people engage in a lifelong journey of curiosity, creativity, collaboration, compassion, and community no matter their age. DfYA’s goal is to bring contemporary dance into the space of children so that they can explore the diversity of dance and the power of movement. Our program provides schools in Dane County with high quality, professional performing arts exposure at no cost to them. Art and arts education is vital. We want to ensure dance is present in local youth’s K-12 education
Contemporary dance engages nuanced conversations and subject matter that is often not addressed in school settings. Holding space for these conversations through art, dance and physical theater can inspire youth to share their own stories and lived truths.
